The "Lock it up" tape gets into the fundamentals of applying locks, and identifies when a lock is actually available. Many systems teach locks that with no resistance or with cooperation from the training partner work anytime and all the time, but what happens when that opponent isn't the training partner? Professor David James will teach, "no one is going to let you hurt them", and that there is "no such thing as effortless self defense."

The practitioner will learn how to apply locks that will most likely show themselves in an actual street or self-defense situation. Professor James will demonstrate with arm bar drills, finger manipulations etc. that locks are just not easily given, but that you must earn the right to put a lock on.
